Welty Middle School proudly presents its winter musical, Disney’s Mary Poppins Jr.Based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time, Mary Poppins tells the tale of the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who
advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."
The cast includes Gabby Riesen (Mary Poppins), Brad Waugh (Bert), Nathaniel Demuth (George Banks), Emma Demuth (Winifred Banks), Brooke Brand (Jane Banks), Jordy Kopp (Michael Banks), Riley Randolph (Mrs. Brill), Daniel Hursey (Robertson Ay / Neleus) Katelynn Scott (Katie Nanna), Grace Maddux (Bird Woman), Ava Riesen (Miss Smythe), Abigail Prucha (Chairman) Hadley Spears (Von Hussler), Derek Shimek (John Northbrook), Erika
Kugler (Mrs. Corry), and Madison Mann (Miss Andrew). Also in the cast are Mackenna Armstrong, Olivia Blaska, Cheyenne Brand, Kyra Ditto, Nadia Hines, Hannah Kohler, Jenny Kugler, Kaitlin McConnell, Kylee Mutti, Olivia Mosley, Rilee Pershing, Eliza VanArsdalen, Chloe
Wing, and Carys Young.
The show dates are Thursday, February 21 at 6:00pm and Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23 beginning at 7:00pm. Tickets are $7.00 and will be available at the door.
The show is under the direction of Christa Roberts. The set design and construction for the show by Chad Roberts.
Mary Poppins Jr. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International with music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman, Robert B. Sherman, George Stiles, Anthony Drewe and book by Julian Fellowes.
