  • We are not able to list anyone who the Health Department does not confirm is COVID positive or probable.  There may be people who have been told by their doctors that they are, but we are not able to fully complete the close contacts until we have the directions from a Health Department.

Responsible Restart Update - 10/20/2020
NPCSD COVID cases, Health Commissioner Ionon, and the State’s Advisory System will all be examined to determine what plan the NPCSD will operate under.  The State’s Advisory System’s “Color” (Yellow, Orange, Red, & Purple) will not be the sole determining factor for the NCSD.

Required Daily Health Screening Process

All students are required to complete COVID health screening prior to coming to school or riding a school bus each school day.  You can find the screener on our website at under the student tab.  A screening of “Green” is required to enter a school bus or facility.  There will also be an animal that shows with the “Green” result.  Children will tell the bus driver the code animal of the day to let them know they have completed their daily COVID health screening.  If your child screens “Yellow” or “Red” they are not permitted to come to school.  Please call the building to report their absence.

The system is protected and meets all medical security standards.  This COVID screener aligns with the CDC and was designed by Luminarie. This needs to be completed each school day.  Click here to view a short video introducing you to this innovative and proactive tool to help keep all safe.

Parent Portal
Parent Portal is now open for you to fill out all back-to-school forms and see your child's schedule.  If you are having any issues or questions, please call your child's school.  NPVA families need to fill out all back-to-school forms, too.
Interview with Our Health Commissioners - 8-7-2020
I had the amazing opportunity to sit down and talk with the New Philadelphia Health Commissioner, Vickie Ionno, and the Tuscarawas County Health Commissioner, Katie Sewart to discuss going back to school.  Lots of great information especially around their recommendations to their families and the school’s role in communicating positive COVID cases.  Listen here

Responsible Restart 20-21
As we prepare for school in the fall of 2020-21, we have created a plan that is flexible to keep students and staff safe.  This plan represents months of work by a variety of teams in collaboration with the City of New Philadelphia’s Health Department.

The Responsible Restart is intended to provide an overview of three educational delivery scenarios and one fully digital option that we are prepared for as a District:

  • Plan A - 100% In-Person Education

  • Plan B - Modified In-Person Education (A combination of in-person & remote education)

  • Plan C - 100% Remote Education

  • New Philadelphia Virtual Academy - Fully Online/Digital Education

Families will have the choice of enrolling their students in the NP Virtual Academy or keeping their students in which plan the NPCSD is operating under (Plan A, B, or C). Parents will not get a choice between all in (Plan A), hybrid (Plan B), or 100% Remote (Plan C). The decision between Plans A, B, & C will be determined by the chart shared below.

Dear Quaker Community:

The purpose of this letter is to communicate that the New Philadelphia CSD has been following the developments related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and is in communication with health officials.  In efforts to take a proactive approach, we are and will continue to heed the governor’s advice to keep our students safe. The situation with COVID-19 is serious and ever-changing. Our health leaders are in frequent communication with public health officials. I want to ensure you that we will continue to work with the local, regional, state, and national experts in public health and follow their guidance.

Per the request of Governor DeWine, all unnecessary mass gatherings are canceled.  This directive from the Governor impacts various New Philadelphia School activities.  The following activities are postponed until further notice:

  • Elementary Fine Arts Programs

  • Guitar Variety Show

  • Music Marathon

  • Field Trips to the Statehouse

  • Field Trips to the McKinley Museum

  • Youth Leadership Experience at River View HS

  • NPHS Student Council Trip to Independence

  • All other field trips.

Health experts recommend taking the following precautions to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, and the flu:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

  • Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
