New Philadelphia City Schools Hires 3 New Administrators

New Philadelphia City Schools hired three new Administrators for the 2021-2022 school year at their Monday, April 19th, 2021 Regular Board of Education Meeting.  The District hired 2 new Principals, Mrs. Trista Claxon and Mrs. Jennifer Hall, and a new Athletic Director, Mr. Tim Fortney.

Mrs. Trista Claxon, current Assistant Principal at NPHS will take over as Principal for the 2021-2022 school year.  "I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to promote excellence at NPHS.  I have been afforded many opportunities this year to learn, grow, and lead while working with the district's leadership team, staff, students, and the New Philadelphia community.  It will be a challenge to fill the position held by Mr. Jurkovic, however, my love for the district motivates me to strive to do what's best for our kids." states Mrs. Claxon.

Mrs. Jennifer Hall, a current teacher at Ridgewood Local Schools will take over as Principal for West Elementary for the 2021-2022 school year, as the current Principal Mrs. Christa Frantz will be relocating to South Elementary. “I am thrilled for the opportunity to serve the New Philadelphia students, staff, and community in my new role with the district. I have been consistently impressed by the district’s student-centered approach, strong sense of community, and focus on excellence. I look forward to getting to know everybody, and I am excited for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.” states Mrs. Hall.

Mrs. Hall, her husband Andrew, and son Liam are excited to be Quakers. Jennifer has obtained her Bachelors in Music Education, her Masters in Educational Leadership, and is in the process of completing her Doctorate in Educational Policy from The Ohio State University.

Mr. Tim Fortney, current Athletic Director, and High School Math teacher at Coshocton City Schools will become the new Athletic Director starting the 2021-2022 school year. Mr. Fortney stated, “I want to thank the Board of Education for the opportunity to serve as the next Athletic Director at New Philadelphia City Schools. The tradition of excellence at New Phila is widely known across the Eastern District as well as the state of Ohio. We have great student-athletes, great coaches, and a very supportive administration. I know that Annie Dalpiaz, Ed Marsh, and Matt Dennison will help to make the transition as seamless as possible. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and becoming part of the Quaker Administrative Team. GO QUAKERS!"

Mr. Fortney, his wife Kelly, and their 2 children, Daughter Casey and Son Jake are looking forward to being part of the Quaker community. Tim has obtained his Bachelors in Business Administration from The Ohio State University, Masters in Education from Muskingum University, 20 years of experience teaching High School Math, and 20 years of experience coaching Football, Track, and Baseball. Fortney has been the Athletic Director at Coshocton City Schools for the past 7 years.

“The New Philadelphia CSD is excited to bring these three high-character leaders to Quaker Nation,” stated Superintendent David Brand.  “All three bring a unique skill set to help build upon our great traditions.  They are student-focused educators who will hit the ground learning.  Staff and community will have an opportunity to meet our newest leaders in the near future.”
