The National Honor Society will host a book fair in the high school library November 14-18.  Ask your ELA teacher when your class will be visiting or shop before school or during the day with permission from a teacher. All rewards we earn will be used to purchase books and stocking stuffers for Share-A-Christmas! Help a great cause by buying gifts for friends and family or a little something for yourself.

Consider setting up an e-wallet! The e-wallet works like a prepaid gift card and eases the worry of bringing cash to school. Set it up here:

New Philadelphia High School students and staff stepped up to the challenge when approached by administration to compete in a Soctober challenge against our rival across the river.  The goal was to collect the most pairs of new socks with all proceeds going to the Tuscarawas County Friends of the Homeless.  A total of 1,558 pairs of socks will be donated to the local homeless shelter.  Thank you NPHS students and staff for your generous donation.  Go Quakers!

The Ohio Cardinal Conference hosted an OCC Leadership Conference on Wednesday, September 21st at Ashland High School. Each school nominated 15-20 participants to attend the meeting. The mission of our group was to promote leadership and sportsmanship among our student-athletes.

The speaker for the leadership event was Sean Robbins, former Div. II All American track athlete at Ashland University. At one time, Sean was ranked fourth in the world for long jump in addition to breaking Jesse Owens record. He gave a powerful speech about the people who have been part of his relay team in life. Sean now trains athletes and football officials in the BIG 10, PAC 12 and NFL.

The OCC Leadership group at New Philadelphia committed to making a difference in our school and our community by:

  • Volunteering for the 2nd & 7 Reading Program at South School.

  • Promoting the school based Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program.

  • Leading our student body and our fans in regard to sportsmanship.

Congratulations to Nathaniel Demuth, Cambri Mushrush, and Cassidy Loos, all seniors at NPHS. They were each one of 62,000 students from across the country to earn academic honors from the College board's National Recognition Programs! These National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students with academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country, helping them stand out during the admissions process. Colleges and scholarship programs use these honors to identify students from underrepresented groups through college Board's Student Search Service.

Demuth, Mushrush, and Loos earned the National Rural and Small Town Award by excelling on their PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or AP Exams and in their classrooms. Students who may be eligible have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have excelled on the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams and attend school in a rural area or small town. Eligible students are invited to apply during their sophomore or junior year, and are awarded at the beginning of the next school year.
