Amanda Fontana
Amanda Fontana is currently serving her first term on the New Philadelphia City School’s Board of Education. Amanda is an Adjunct Professor at Stark State College in the Health and Public Services Division. She is also an independent provider through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. She attended Stark State College where she obtained her Associate of Applied Science degree in Human and Social Services with a career enhancement certificate in American Sign Language, The University of Akron earning her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with the Highest Distinction, and her Masters of Social Work from Cleveland State University. Amanda has experience serving on many local and state Committees and Boards, including Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities Human Rights Committee, Stark State College Social Sciences Department Advisory Board, Board of Directors (Secretary), Tuscarawas County Friends of the Homeless and Pathway to Wellness, Speaker for Ohio’s Congenital Cytomegalovirus Legislative Team, Alco Services LLC. For the Sake of Kids (Provider of respite care services for individuals with developmental/behavioral disabilities), Policy Council Representative for Harcatus Head Start, New Philadelphia Harcatus Head Start Learning Center Parent Committee (President 2017-18), PHI ALPHA Honor Society, National Society of Leadership and Success, PHI THETA KAPPA Honor Society, PSI BETA Honor Society.
Amanda resides in New Philadelphia, with her children who are her motivation, inspiration, and strength. Her oldest daughter Lilli, lives with developmental disabilities and is also Deaf. She graduated from her school in 2023 and was the Senior class Prom Queen. She enjoys sporting events, being with family and friends, and outings in the community. My son Ethan, graduated in 2021 and is currently a junior at Bowling Green State University majoring in Communications. He is a member of Alpha Tau Omega and serves on multiple committees for the organization, and is also the Student Supervisor for Intramural Sports. My youngest daughter, Lena, is in fourth grade and loves reading, science, and playing on her competitive soccer team. It is a tremendous honor to be their mom. Amanda very much enjoys being outdoors, hiking, and being around natural bodies of water is where she loves to be. However, her favorite activity is kayaking on the Weeki Wachee River in Florida.
When Ms. Fontana was asked what she would consider her goal for the Board of Education she responded “To uphold our mission with integrity. Being able to provide an educational experience that will enhance knowledge, growth, and future opportunities for all of our students in a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.”
