Mr. Kip Brady and his students have been working on a Tick Project that focuses on student engagement in research experiences that examine the ecology of the Blacklegged Tick and the pathogens it transmits, specifically Borrelia Burgdorferi which is the etiologic agent of Lyme Disease.
Mr. Brady and students were recently invited to the Tusc Parks/Ohio State University's " Exploring Ticks and Tick-Borne Illness in Tuscarawas County" event where they gave a presentation on their Tick project, methods, and results. Community members in attendance were impressed with the project and the student's involvement in answering questions about ticks and diseases here in Tuscarawas County. County Commissioners have invited them back to present at the May meeting for Lyme Disease Awareness Month.
