Welty Middle School Counselor:
The Welty Middle School guidance program is both preventive and proactive as it addresses the cognitive, social, and emotional needs of students. Students, parents, teachers, administrators, and counselors work together to maximize the growth of each individual. The components of the counseling program are delivered through individual counseling, group counseling, parent collaboration, agency referral, community networking, classroom guidance, staff collaboration, student support activities and college/post-secondary career planning and development.
The Welty Middle School Counseling Program will assist students to develop and maintain the skills needed to:
· understand and respect themselves and others.
· behave responsibly in the school, with family, and the community.
· make wise choices, manage change successfully, and solve problems.
· use their educational opportunities appropriately.
· communicate effectively.
· plan and prepare for personally satisfying and socially useful lives.
**For Enrolling new students to Welty Middle School, please provide the student's original birth certificate, social security card, court documents showing custody, and proof of residence (utility bill or lease agreement). The enrollment registration packet can be found on the district website. Packets are also available in the Middle School Office. A release of records form must be signed by the parent, this form can only be found at the Middle School Office.**
Confidentiality Statement
As professional school guidance counselors, we will respect the rights of confidentiality of personal information disclosed during the course of conversation between ourselves and students except in the following cases: If the student presents danger to him or herself, if the student presents danger to others, if the student has been abused by others, if the student needs hospitalization or if required to do so by court order. We are bound by Federal and State law to break confidentiality in the above so mentioned situations and will do so to protect our students and to remain legally and ethically true to our profession.
