Weekly Update

o   This is my last parent update for the school year!  Wow!  It is hard to believe that there are 8 days of school left!  I guess time really does fly when you are having fun!

o   This week we had so much fun on our Field day!  We had 3 inflatables, field activities on the front lawn, and snow cones and face painting.  It was a fantastic day for the kids.  Thank you so much to the numerous parent volunteers we had!

o   We do have a lot of fun things coming up the last two weeks of school.  We still have our movie day and our 5th graders get to have Track and Field day next Tuesday and Kindergarten graduation on Friday. The Track and Field day is sort of a special privilege for our kids.  They hear about it through their time here and then get to have fun competing with 5th graders across the district.

o    If you need anything over the summer please send me an email  ziga-buddc@npschools.org.  Feel free to send me an email with questions or just to say Hi!

Welcome to Our School
There is always something exciting going on at West Elementary!  Whether it is a fun and engaging lesson in a classroom, a fun day at recess, or a special event or good behavior activity.

West Elementary has over 270 students in grades K-5.  At West we have two classroom teachers for each grade, three intervention specialists, and one title teacher.  We also have part time employees such as classroom aides, speech pathologists, a gifted teacher, a mathematics title teacher and librarian.  Our other important staff includes Mrs. Martini as secretary, Mr. Daley as custodian, Mrs. Walton in our cafeteria and all of our specials teachers that teach Art, Music, and Physical Education.

The children at West are rewarded by earning Character Charms.  Character traits are observed daily.  We put a lot of emphasis on showing and displaying good character.  Students who meet their behavior goals also are eligible to participate in the quarterly good behavior events that go on at West.  Some examples of past good behavior events include ice cream treats, line dancing lessons, movies, and special assemblies.

People always ask what makes your school special and I always say how caring everyone is each day.  When I walk into West Elementary, I know that each kid is being treated in a caring way by their teacher and other staff members.

Come visit anytime!
