The Welty Echo is the student newspaper at Welty Middle School in New Philadelphia City Schools. Welty Middle School is a vibrant, amazing, active community. The students fill the halls with positivity and energy and the teachers promote learning through their own brilliance and entertaining personalities.
One of the aspects of Welty that shines brightly is the large amount of activities there are for students to engage in. Whether it’s football or student council; National Junior Honor Society or Power of the Pen – there is a lot to offer students outside of the normal classroom environment.
The Welty Echo was created to cover all of these events and to bring the sights and sounds of Welty Middle School to the forefront in the community. We have continued to produce a print edition once per month and also have created a website that is updated every week with breaking news from within the school.
Within the website you will find photos, stories and video. We are very excited to bring Welty into your home and hope that you will visit our site as often as time allows. Every story hit we receive is valuable. We compete with every other high school and middle school which uses our webhost for a monthly contest where the top sites receive money towards their journalism program. I know that with your help, we can achieve this goal of winning the monthly contest.
