FEBRUARY 23rd BULLY-PROOFING YOUTH TRAINING

As you may know, the epidemic of bullying behavior is on the rise both locally and nationally. We hear about the grave and lasting impacts of this behavior on the news and cannot begin to comprehend what the children in our community experience each day. In order to address and prevent this behavior, New Philadelphia City Schools has invited Jim Bisenius to present his Bully-Proofing Youth trainings in our community. This will include two student trainings; one elementary for grades 4-5 and one middle school and one parent training, which will be open to the public, on February 23rd at 7:00pm in the Lecture Hall. 

Mr. Bisenius has sixteen years of experience as a child and adolescent therapist specializing in teaching extremely  targeted youth how to handle bullying situations. Mr. Bisenius has taught his nationally recognized response techniques to over 450 schools across the nation.

According to Mr. Bisenius, almost all students who target others are also victims of bullying somewhere else in their lives. The techniques taught in the student assemblies are important for both those who target, and those being targeted to practice and master. Students will learn exactly how "popular" bullies isolate, control, and manipulate their peers. Then they will learn what steps they must take to stop them.

The parent anti-bullying training will cover exactly how to teach your child to respond to verbal bullying, physical bullying, social bullying, and group manipulation. Parents will walk away with concrete tools that they can immediately implement and help their child master in order to eliminate bullying from his or her life.

Our hope is that this program will help our community learn skills to decrease the epidemic of bullying and prevent any tragedies in our area.
