New Philadelphia receives Momentum Award
The Ohio Department of Education has granted the New Philadelphia City School District the 2016 Momentum Award. The Momentum Award recognizes districts that have received A’s on every value-added measure included on the 2016 Ohio School Report Card. State Board President, Thomas Gunlock, stated “Your report card for the 2015-16 school year shows your pupils enjoyed greater than expected growth in reading and mathematics. Your accomplishment makes you part of a group of districts that is supporting the academic growth of students from every background and ability level….Yours is a wonderful example for all Ohio school districts.”
The letter also stated, “Members of the State Board of Education appreciate your leadership and dedication of your staff to achieve this success. Please convey our thanks to your teachers, support staff and parents for believing that every child can succeed academically and for making sure that every child does.”
