Graduation Information & Reminders
Listed below, please find NPHS graduation information and reminders that will assist you in navigating the graduation process. Should you need additional information, please contact your guidance counselor or a building administrator.
Disciplinary and Financial Obligations to NPHS and/or BCC
All disciplinary and financial (student fees, lost textbooks, etc. . .) obligations to NPHS and/or BCC must be completed prior to Monday, April 30, 2018, in order to participate in graduation practice. Please meet with a building administrator prior to that date should you anticipate a problem with meeting these obligations.
Special Notes:
Caps & Gowns will be delivered prior to April 6, 2018. On April 6th there will be a Senior Class meeting at 7:50 a.m. in the NPHS gym for all students—this includes: NPHS students, BCC students, Post-Secondary students. Students will receive their caps and gowns at this meeting. Please take the time to remove cap and gown from the packaging that it arrived in and place your gown on a hanger in order to remove wrinkles from the garment at least one week prior to graduation. DO NOT IRON the gown as it will damage the gown.
Participation in the graduation ceremony is NOT MANDATORY. If you choose to not participate in the graduation ceremony, please contact your guidance counselor prior to Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Arrangements will be made for you to pick-up your diploma during the first week of June.
Participation in the graduation practice is MANDATORY if you plan to participate in the graduation ceremony. Failure to attend graduation practice or inappropriate behavior at graduation practice will result in you not being permitted to attend the graduation ceremony. Graduation practice is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25th to begin in the NPHS gym. Graduation practice will transition to Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium and conclude by 2:30 p.m. Please clear your calendar now for this date and time—please note that this is a scheduled school day.
Failure to abide by the graduation procedures and follow good conduct during the graduation ceremony or graduation practice will result in a delay in receiving your diploma. A community service commitment may be imposed prior to the issuance of the diploma due to causing a disruption in the graduation ceremony or at the graduation practice.
Graduation Dress & Behavior Code:
Commencement, by nature, is a dignified ceremony and students are expected to dress and behave with this thought in mind. Students should wear dresses, skirts, dress slacks or khakis, dress shirts, dress shoes and a tie is suggested. Students may not wear jeans, shorts, t-shirts, slippers, flip flops, or tennis shoes. Should a student need assistance with meeting these dress code requirements, please make contact with a guidance counselor immediately. Caps and gowns are required to participate in the graduation ceremony. There is to be no writing on the mortarboard or additions to the graduation regalia that is issued. Students are not permitted to bring any item to the graduation ceremony that would disrupt or distract from the ceremony. A dress code check is performed prior to the graduation ceremony. Students who fail to abide by the graduation dress and/or behavior code will be sent home.
