Jim Parrish, Fire Chief- New Philadelphia Fire Department, has served on the New Philadelphia City School’s Board of Education for 2 years. Mr. Parrish is trained as a Firefighter I & II, EMT-Paramedic, Fire Safety Inspector, Fire Instructor, Fire Officer III, and a Critical Care Flight Paramedic. Jim also serves on the district's Building and Safety Committees. He and his family are members of the First Christian Church.
Jim resides in New Philadelphia with his wife Sandy, where they have raised 3 daughters: Emily (Matt) Miller, Lindsey Parrish, and Kendra Parrish. In his spare time, Jim enjoys spending time with his family and watching Basketball and Football.
Jim is described by Superintendent Mr. David Brand as “an intelligent and caring leader. His experience as a public servant, along with his knowledge regarding safety and security has been a blessing to the district. Chief Parrish is a model board member and the New Philadelphia City Schools are better because of him.”
When Mr. Parrish was asked what he would consider his goal for the Board of Education he responded: “Through the example of Servant Leadership my goal is to give our staff everything they need to create a learning environment that will help every student succeed. I believe our administrators, teachers, and support staff are second to none.”
