Dear Quaker CommunityThis is an unprecedented time and the situation is ever-changing. The last email was the plan created with much input and based on the requirements given to schools by the Ohio Department of Education and the Governor’s Office. The plan was designed to best serve our students. However, the latest interpretation of the Governor’s statements by the Ohio Department of Education has caused us the need to adjust our plans. What we know for sure is that things will continue to change and bring challenges. However, we also know that Quaker Nation is strong and will come together to adapt and succeed!
The NPCSD will still suspend face to face instruction and adjust to alternative learning opportunities, beginning Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, April 3. Spring break, scheduled for April 6-13, will continue as planned. Therefore, it is anticipated that regular instruction will resume on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
Feeding children is also a priority to us at the New Philadelphia City Schools. This tentatively will begin Tuesday, March 17. There will be no charge to any student for lunch. Details on how, where, and when to pick up lunch will be announced Monday in a manner that ensures we comply with the requirement to not allow any student into the school building.

What is the “alternative learning” plan? Starting on Tuesday, March 17, students will have the ability to receive instruction through both posted classroom content digitally or receiving hard copies of the classroom assignments. More details on this plan will come Monday, March 16th.
