Dear Quaker Community:
The purpose of this letter is to communicate that the New Philadelphia CSD has been following the developments related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and is in communication with health officials. In efforts to take a proactive approach, we are and will continue to heed the governor’s advice to keep our students safe. The situation with COVID-19 is serious and ever-changing. Our health leaders are in frequent communication with public health officials. I want to ensure you that we will continue to work with the local, regional, state, and national experts in public health and follow their guidance.
Per the request of Governor DeWine, all unnecessary mass gatherings are canceled. This directive from the Governor impacts various New Philadelphia School activities. The following activities are postponed until further notice:
Elementary Fine Arts Programs
Guitar Variety Show
Music Marathon
Field Trips to the Statehouse
Field Trips to the McKinley Museum
Youth Leadership Experience at River View HS
NPHS Student Council Trip to Independence
All other field trips.
Health experts recommend taking the following precautions to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, and the flu:
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
