Mr. Jeff Furbay Director of Instrumental Music The 2011-2012 school year marks Mr. Furbay's seventh year as New Philadelphia High School's instrumental music director and head marching band director.
After graduating from New Philadelphia High in 1985, Furbay attended the University of Akron, majoring in instrumental music education. In 1990, he became a director of music at the Welty Middle School in New Philadelphia, where he also served as assistant marching band director under then director Cheryl Anne Graham. Furbay remained as assistant director after NPHS alum Steve Angel took over as marching band director. Angel remained at New Philadelphia for two years as director of the high school band. Mr. Chad Roberts then became the director of bands for NPHS and served for two years.
Furbay was appointed director of New Philadelphia High School's instrumental music and head marching band director in May of 2005.
Mr. Furbay received his Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University in 2002. He is a member of the Ohio Music Education Association where he is active as a marching and solo & ensemble adjudicator.
