Jabberwocky is assigned at the start of the second semester of the school year and is due during the last full week of school prior to final exams. This year the assignment due date is Monday, May 16, 2016
Students are expected to learn the poem fully and recite the poem in front of their class. The poem is to be delivered word-for-word from memory. The assignemnt is worth a total of 100 points and may be the largest score received during the fourth nine weeks period of school.
Be sure to visit the Jabberwocky Videos page that is available in the left menu of this webpage.
Mr. Exley spends several days discussing the poem and the assignment when he first assigns Jabberwocky.
He also provides each student with two copies of the poem and recommends keeping one at school and the other at home where the student may see it each day. Students have every opportunity to ask about the poem during the semester and Mr. Exley will, from time-to-time, review and recite the poem. Students are always asked if they have questions on the assignemt or need any words defined or pronounced.
The week prior to the due date, students will draw numbers for performance order. They have the ability to swap positions with another student if they would like to try and perform earlier or later.
