Nominate a Teacher for The Quaker Foundation Dr. William J. and Mae Hurst Jackson Award for Distinguished Teaching in the New Philadelphia City School District.      For more information check out the following links.  The winning teacher will receive a $5000 award.  Deadline for submission of nominees is December 12.

Welty Middle School Students earn Ohio Middle Level Student of the Year
8th Grade Luke Weaver and Nicole Cox were recently honored at the annual Ohio Middle Level Association State Conference in Columbus Ohio on Thursday, Feb. 17th. Each student received a plaque and a $500.00 savings bond from the association.
Luke Weaver is the Son of Chris and Lisa Weaver and Nicole is the Daughter of Todd and Cathy Cox both of New Philadelphia.
Every Year the Ohio Middle Level Association honors an 8th grade male and female student around the state of Ohio as student of the year. To be nominated for this award the nominator must be currently enrolled as a member of Ohio Middle Level Association.
Eighth Grade student are nominated according to how the demonstrate qualities of good citizenship and provide evidence of making a positive contribution to both the school and community.

Picture 1 (079) is the Boys 200 Medley Relay: Nathan Levengood, Seth Harrison, Tanner Stokey, and Ryan Trimmer. The boys podiumed at 6th place.

Picture 2 (081) is State Qualifier Tanner Stokey after his 50 free (4th place). Tanner broke the school record in a time of 22.17 and will compete Thursday.

Picture 3 (085) is State Qualifier Tanner Stokey after his 100 free (2nd place). Tanner broke the school record in this event also, with a time of 48.78 and will compete at the State level on Thursday.

Picture 4 (090) is the Boys 200 Freestyle Relay: Nathan Levengood, Seth Harrison, Tanner Stokey and Ryan Trimmer. The boys missed state by only 4 tenths of a second! They placed 6th overall at districts.

Picture 5 (095) The girls 200 free relay huddles before their race in division 1. Hannah Hixenbaugh, Vanessa Wenger, Elle Stokey and Mariah Charette. They placed 27th overall.

Picture 6 (099) The girls 400 free relay behind the blocks. Paige Frank, Elle Stokey, Liz Herman and Taylor McInturf. They placed 22nd overall.

Mrs. Hughes' and Mrs. Watson's first grade class made valentines for Richard Martineau SPC, stationed in Afghanistan (brother of student Madysen Martineau). The entire school made a banner for the troops for the soldiers who are serving our country and sent them overseas who are unable to spend valentines day with loved ones.
