Welcome to the Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment Department
This site has been created to provide useful information to parents, teachers, and students.
The district uses academic content standards adopted by the Ohio Department of Education
(ODE) for core subject areas and Common Core Curriculum for Math and English Language Arts which are National Standards.
(CCSS). New Philadelphia has developed high standards for learning and is working on ensuring that the written curriculum, classroom instruction, and tests of learning all match. This type of alignment has a powerful impact on student achievement.
Making sure parents understand the standards benefits both the family and the teacher. A good, high quality guideline to the standards increase positive parent interactions and develops an understanding of the expectations. Parent guidelines can be viewed at
Standards Guides For Families.
The Office of Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for the district’s improvement efforts and include the development of K-12 courses of study, facilitation of the Ohio Improvement Process, the planning and facilitating of professional development, the purchasing of textbooks and educational materials, student achievement and progress, the support and integration of district technology, and other curriculum related services.
