Weekly Update

·         We had a very busy week!  On Tuesday, we celebrated Valentine’s Day and on Thursday we had lots 4th and 5th graders bring Dads and other special people for Donuts.  Today we had some students from the High School read to some of the classrooms.  It has been a fun week!
·         Next week we have Spring Pictures on Thursday.  These are the pictures where you do not pay in advance.  In a few weeks you will get a packet of pictures.  If you like them you pay for them and if you do not you return them to school.  We will also have the class picture taken on this day.  Every student is in the class picture.  We sent home an order form if you would like to order a copy of the class picture.
·         Just a reminder we have Monday off for President’s day.  After that we have 5 full weeks of school.  This time of year is especially hard for the kids.  The weather is unpredictable, March is a long month, and spring fever is near.  Please help us by reminding your children of the school and classroom rules and help reward them for good days at school!
·         If you have or know someone that has a child that is 5 or will turn 5 before August 1st remind them to register for Kindergarten.  The form is on-line at
www.npschools.org or contact us here at West!

Welcome to Our School
There is always something exciting going on at West Elementary!  Whether it is a fun and engaging lesson in a classroom, a fun day at recess, or a special event or good behavior activity.

West Elementary has over 270 students in grades K-5.  At West we have two classroom teachers for each grade, three intervention specialists, and one title teacher.  We also have part time employees such as classroom aides, speech pathologists, a gifted teacher, a mathematics title teacher and librarian.  Our other important staff includes Mrs. Martini as secretary, Mr. Daley as custodian, Mrs. Walton in our cafeteria and all of our specials teachers that teach Art, Music, and Physical Education.

The children at West are rewarded by earning Character Charms.  Character traits are observed daily.  We put a lot of emphasis on showing and displaying good character.  Students who meet their behavior goals also are eligible to participate in the quarterly good behavior events that go on at West.  Some examples of past good behavior events include ice cream treats, line dancing lessons, movies, and special assemblies.

People always ask what makes your school special and I always say how caring everyone is each day.  When I walk into West Elementary, I know that each kid is being treated in a caring way by their teacher and other staff members.

Come visit anytime!
