At Central Elementary School, students are encouraged to dream about possibilities. A caring, dedicated staff of educators continues to provide exceptional experiences and opens doors that lead to endless possibilities for our students and their ability to realize the fullness of their human potential. Through rigorous, relevant instruction, a foundation is laid that allows our students to develop and hone those skills that prepare them for success in the twenty-first century world of technology, collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and life skills.
During the past school year, our wonderful students worked daily at meeting our TARGET goals of be on time, be accountable, respectful and responsible, take pleasure in being a person who does good, put forth your best effort in all you do each day, and lastly, be thankful by demonstrating an attitude of gratitude! Assemblies with James “Basketball” Jones and talented ventriloquist Mark Wade were just two examples of the rewards students could earn for meeting their TARGET goals.
Being people of service continues to be a vital part of our school’s mission. During the 2010-11 school year, our students participated in numerous service projects including our Canned Food Drive during the month of November, Share-A-Christmas, the Saint Jude Math-a-Thon, Project Recycle, and Big Bothers and Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake. Additionally, the students, parents, and staff of Central Elementary School looked to make a difference in our community by giving freely of their time and talents in assisting with several local projects such as helping with clean-up activities at Schoenbrunn Village, Tuscora Park, and our downtown square.
Members of the faculty and administration continue to be diligent in their efforts to grow as professionals and seek the most current research-based instructional practices that support the academic growth of our students. Through our Teacher-Based and Building Leadership Teams, our educators utilize data to inform as well as form their instructional practices, providing differentiated instruction designed to meet the unique learning needs of our students.
Our active Parent-Teacher Organization continues to sponsor a number of events that promote the sense of family that has been such a vital part of Central Elementary School and its success for many, many years. Activities such as Granola with Grandparents, Donuts with Dad, Muffins with Mom, and our annual school Carnival are only a few ways we continue to build community.
It's another great year to be at Central Elementary School! Go Quakers!!
Sincerely,
John R. Zucal
